HST and your banking services:
The new Harmonized Sales Tax (HST) is effective July 1, 2010.
Your regular banking transactions at YNCU are not subject to the tax, but the following items are:
• Safety Deposit Boxes
• Cheque orders and accessories
• Letters (reference, certificates, account balance or verification, interest earned, audit confirmation)
The HST (a combination of the 5% Goods & Services Tax (GST) and the 8% Provincial Sales Tax (PST)) will not be charged on most basic items, but some goods and services will be subject to the tax.
